12 Insider Tips for Visiting Burj Khalifa At The Top

A visit to the top of the world’s tallest building is a highlight of any Dubai trip. These practical tips will help you save time, avoid stress and come home with better photos.

Before you go

1. Book ahead — especially for sunset

Walk-up availability can be limited, and prime-hour sunset slots often sell out days in advance. Booking early secures your preferred time and price.

2. Choose the right ticket

Silver (levels 124 & 125) is perfect for most visitors. Want fewer crowds and refreshments? Go Gold (level 148). Celebrating something special? Platinum’s Lounge on levels 152–154 is hard to beat. See our full price comparison.

3. Check the weather

Visibility is usually best from November to March. On very hazy days, a night visit can be a great alternative — the city lights shine through.

4. Know where the entrance is

The At The Top entrance is on the Lower Ground floor of The Dubai Mall — not at the tower’s base. The mall is huge, so follow the “At The Top” signs and allow extra walking time.

5. Arrive 15–20 minutes early

Your ticket is for a specific time slot. Arriving early gives you time for the security check without rushing.

6. Take the Metro

Ride the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, then follow the air-conditioned walkway straight into the mall. It’s often faster than a taxi at peak times.

7. Travel light

There’s an airport-style security check. Large bags, tripods, drones, food and drinks aren’t allowed — bring just your phone, camera and ID.

8. Beat the reflections

For clean photos through the glass, get your lens close to the window and shade it with your hand or a dark cloth. Turn off your flash.

9. Step outside

Don’t miss the outdoor terrace on level 124 — and on level 148 if you’re on a Gold ticket. It’s the best spot for unobstructed views.

10. Take your time

There’s no rush once you’re up there. Many guests stay 45–90 minutes to watch the light change over the city.

After your visit

11. Watch the Dubai Fountain

The fountain shows on Burj Lake are free and run regularly in the evening. Time your descent to catch one.

12. Make it a combo

The Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is inside the same mall. The Silver + Aquarium combo is a great way to fill a family afternoon.

Travelling with little ones? Children under 4 usually go free — just mention them in your booking so we can confirm.
