Best Time to Visit Burj Khalifa: Sunset, Night or Morning?

The view from Burj Khalifa changes dramatically through the day and across the year. Here’s how to choose the right season, day and time slot for your visit.

Sunset: the most popular slot

Watching the sun sink into the desert from level 124 or 148 is unforgettable — which is exactly why sunset slots (known as prime hours) sell out first and usually carry a supplement. If sunset is a must, book several days ahead and aim to arrive around 30–45 minutes before sunset so you see the city in daylight, golden hour and dusk.

Good to know: sunset in Dubai ranges from around 5:30 PM in winter to around 7:15 PM in summer. Tell us your date and we’ll suggest the ideal slot.

Morning: clearest and calmest

Mornings are often the most underrated time to visit. Crowds are thinner, prices are non-prime, and on cooler days the air can be crisp enough to see far along the coastline towards Palm Jumeirah and deep into the desert. Photographers love the soft side-light on the skyline.

Night: city lights and fountains

After dark, Dubai turns into a sea of lights. Later evening slots are usually quieter than sunset, and you can finish your visit with the Dubai Fountain show on Burj Lake right below the tower. Night is also the easiest time to get reflection-free photos if you get close to the glass.

Best months to visit

  • November to March: the most comfortable weather and usually the clearest views. Also peak tourist season — book early.
  • April, May & October: warm, fewer visitors, generally good visibility.
  • June to September: very hot and humid outside, and haze can soften long-distance views. The experience itself is fully air-conditioned and often less crowded.

During Ramadan and public holidays, opening hours can change — we’ll always confirm your slot when you book.

Weekdays vs weekends

Weekends (Saturday and Sunday in the UAE) and public holidays are the busiest days. If your schedule is flexible, a weekday morning or late evening gives you the most space at the windows. Visiting at a busy time? Consider the Silver + Fast Track ticket to cut queueing time.

Our quick recommendations

  • Best overall: a winter sunset, booked well ahead.
  • Best value: a non-prime morning slot on a weekday.
  • Best for photos: clear morning or after dark.
  • Best with kids: morning visit, then the Dubai Aquarium next door.
